Welcome To the Homepage of Victory Baptist Church

Who We Are

Victory Baptist Church is an old-fashioned, Bible-believing independent Baptist Church.  We believe in the Baptist Distinctives:  The Book, the Blood, and the Blessed Hope.  We use only the King James Version, encourage traditional music, and seek to represent first-century Christianity in a 21st century world.  We believe in seeking the lost, edifying the saints, and restoring fellowiship to the fallen.

What does VBC believe?

BREIFLY, What We Believe:

Holy Scriptures:

We believe in the plenary, verbal inspiration of the 66 books of the Bible, both as to its inspiration in its original autographs and its preservation in our English language in the form of the King James Version of the Scriptures.  We believe that it is without error and is the sole authority in all matters of faith and practice; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the age, the only complete and final revelation of God’s will to man.

The True God:

We believe that there is only one true God, existing in three Persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  They are co-eternal and co-equal from all eternity, each having His own personality.

God, The Father:  We believe there is a distinction only in position in the Godhead, that being that the Father is first.  He is perfect in holiness, infinite in wisdom, and measureless in power.  We believe that He concerns Himself with mercy in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death in Hell all who come to Him through Jesus Christ His Son.

God, the Son:

We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate.  He was and is and always shall be VERY GOD of VERY GOD, possessing all the divine attributes that God alone possesses.

The Virgin Birth:  We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Ghost in a miraculous manner; born of Mary, a virgin, as no other has nor can be born.  He is the God-Man—fully God and fully man.

The Atonement for Sin:  We believe that Jesus Christ by His death made a full and vicarious atonement for our sins; that He was the Perfect Sacrifice that God had demanded as payment in full for the sins of the whole world.  He was not a martyr, but a voluntary substitute for the sinner.  He suffered not only physical pain and suffering on the Cross, and not only bore our sins in His own body, but suffered the punishment of the eternity of Hell on Calvary, actually becoming sin for us.  He was the Just dying for the unjust, Christ the Lord bearing our sins in His own body on the tree that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

The Bodily Resurrection:  We believe that Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead on the third day according to the Scriptures and thereby was declared to be the Victor over Sin, Death and Hell; that this absolute truth is a necessary part of the Gospel; and His resurrection gives the believers the assurance that they will someday be raised in like manner.

God, the Holy Spirit:

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person, equal with God, the Father and God, the Son; that He was active in the Creation; inspired Scripture, and is the One Who restrains the Evil One until God’s purpose is fulfilled; that He convicts of sin, righteousness, and judgment; that He bears witness to the truth of the Gospel in preaching and testimony; that He is the Agent in the New Birth; that He seals, endues with power, guides, teaches, comforts, witnesses, sanctifies and helps the believer in his pilgrimage here on earth.  We further believe that he indwells the believer upon salvation acting as the earnest of our inheritance.

The Fall of Man:

We believe that man was created in innocence with but one restraint by his Maker, and by voluntary transgression (for while in that Eve was deceived, Adam sinned willfully) of  that one restraint, fell from his “sinless and happy state”, in consequence of which, all mankind are now sinners—not by constraint, but of choice; and therefore, under just condemnation, without defense or excuse.

Salvation by Grace Through Faith:

We believe in salvation by grace; that salvation is the free gift of God, neither merited nor secured in part or in whole by any virtue or work of man.  It is received only by personal repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and nothing prevents the salvation of the vilest sinner on earth but his own inherent depravity and voluntary rejection of Christ.

The Blood of Christ:

We believe in the total efficacy of the Blood of Christ; that it was willingly shed as the propitiation for man’s sin debt; that Jesus Christ Himself ascended into Heaven to sprinkle His Own Blood on the Heavenly Mercy Seat to satisfy the Father’s need for a Perfect Blood Sacrifice.  It is not incidental to our salvation, nor an accessory to be taken lightly.  Without it and its atoning power, there is no remission for our sins.  With it, we have complete assurance that our sins have been fully covered—once for all.

Eternal Security:

We believe that every born again believer is saved forever.  We further believe that all believers will persevere unto the end because perseverance is not dependent on good works, but rather upon the faith of the Lord Jesus Christ and the efficacy of His precious Blood; that the promise of eternal security is clearly revealed in God’s Word, the Holy Spirit being the Seal of that promise.

The Local Church:

We believe that a local church is a called out assembly, made up of born again, baptized believers who are associated by a covenant of faith and by the fellowship of the Gospel; that these same believers observe the ordinances of Christ, especially those of the Lord’s Supper and of Baptism of converts.  The church’s officers of ordination are pastors (also referred to in Scripture as ‘elders’ and ‘bishops’) and deacons, whose qualifications, claims, duties, and responsibilities are clearly defined in the Scriptures.  We believe that the true mission of the Church is found in the Great Commission:  to make individual disciples; to build up the church; to teach and instruct as He has commanded.  The emphasis of the local church should be to 1) reach the lost 2) revive the saints and 3) restore the fallen.  We believe that the local church has the right and obligation according to Scripture to practice church discipline from within when needed, as we firmly believe that the local church is an autonomous, self-governing body.  It shall remain free from outside interference of any kind, whether by a group of individuals or a hierarchy of organizations (private or governmental).  The One and Only Superintendent of the Church is Jesus Christ.

Missions:

We believe the command to give the Gospel to the world is clear and unmistakable, and that this commission was given to the churches through  its individual and several members, and is to be carried out in its propagation by faith.  We believe that missions is an essential part of the responsibility of the church’s ministry, and mission work is to be done by all believers both abroad and at home.  It is to be done at home through personal soul-winning by members of the local church, and abroad by those whom the Holy Spirit leads the church to support both in prayers and finances.

The Devil:

We believe that Satan was once an inhabitant of Heaven, enjoying Heavenly honors and responsibilities; that through pride and ambition to be as God, he fell from his place and drew after him one third of the angels; that he is now the malignant Prince of the Power of the Air, and the unholy god of this world.  We believe him to be man’s great tempter, the enemy of God and Christ, the accuser of the brethren, the author of all false religions, the chief power of the present apostasy, the lord of the antichrist, and the author of all powers of darkness.  This adversary has been overcome by the Power of the Blood of Christ and is destined to a final defeat at the hand of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, and to the judgment of an eternal justice in Hell to a place especially prepared for him and his angels—to which all who reject Jesus Christ as Saviour shall find themselves eternally committed.
